Whats our promise?

We promise never to cut down or sell your tree(s). As legal guardians for the land, we have introduced a series of legal measures that ensures the protection of the trees and meadows above all else.

Our Fundamental Objectives?

Soil regeneration and protection is our number one objective. Soil is being washed away and destroyed at an alarming rate. To help maintain, manage and protect we have implemented a number of processes to help restore the soil.

Soil Management

  • Planting Native and Naturalised Trees

  • Replenishing and revitalising hedgerows

  • Sowing grass land and meadows

  • Developing deepened biodiversity into society

  • Enhancing ecosystems through social good programmes

  • Creating a learning environment for all people to gain knowledge rather than information on

what has failed us and what we can do to reduce the impacts.

  • Climate Crisis education

Who owns our land?

Grown Forest is always the Legal Landowner.

How are the trees protected over time?

All our trees are individually protected by law. They can only be removed if there is a safety concern for the public visiting our lands due to an 'Act of God'.

Is there a certificate number for the Trees we plant?

Yes. Each purchase generates an individual certificate number.

How many tree species do we plant?

At the moment we plant from 17 variety of tree species.

Do we use sprays and insecticide?

NO.

Are we a charity?

No, we are a Social Enterprise. What that means is that our business model insists that we reinvested our profits into social good projects that support our mission to protect our home planet.

Co-Founder Neil McCabe is an elected Irish Ashoka Fellow. Neil works alongside some of the world’s top Social Entrepreneurs. Together we are developing and delivering positive climate impact on a daily basis.

Does Grown Forest only engage in continual forestry?

We are completely opposed to any practices that remove trees from the forest. Unforeseen 'Acts of God' may occur and the tree will have to be removed due to safety reasons. The whole point of our work is to keep the tree in the ground for many generations to come. This ensures the soil maintains and holds on to the emissions the biomass has captured over its lifetime.

Our forests already developing and promote full tree canopy's as it stands.

Our Species are selected in the different locations around Ireland relative to provenance. A native forest not used for timber will always provide the perfect canopy and will not require continual forestry practices.

What is our woodland planting?

For many years we have planted a wide range of broad leaf trees including the the following species: Oak, Alder, Holly, Hazel and Birch.

We seek out damaged lands that have been almost demolished from over intensive farming practices.

We spend our time replenishing those areas by planting native trees. To make that work, we have to use many methods including techniques that foster the protection of damaged ecosystems and biodiversity. One such method is our planting of our woodland trees.

Can trees be planted all year round?

Tree planting season runs from October to early April. During this period we plant and maintain the forest.

If you buy a tree out of season, it will be planted the following season. On the rare occasion that we do not have planted trees available, we will hold the tree count and commence planting when the season opens again.

Our meadow tiles and trees are available to purchase all year round.

Where does Grown Forest source it's root stock?

We use time consuming methods of sourcing and selecting Irish native and Naturalised seeds grown into specimens. We have a network of seed collectors and growers. We also coppice certain biomass varieties.

Why plant meadows?

We use provenance gathered annual and perennial wildflowers seeds with the goal of giving some extra food to our busy bees and pollinators each year, providing some refuge for birds and other species of mammals, protecting soil and helping ecosystems get a little respite.
