2. A Partnership Built from the Start
Grown Forest was launched during COVID, a time when most businesses were forced to look inward and focus on survival. Carlson took a different approach. They recognised the importance of biodiversity, ecosystem protection, and long-term environmental thinking, even in uncertain times.
From the outset, they placed their trust in the Grown Forest model and committed to planting native Irish trees each year. That decision has continued ever since.
3. Turning Everyday Business Into Environmental Action
What makes this partnership stand out is how seamlessly it fits into Carlson’s core business. For every set of premium windows and doors installed in a home, Carlson plants two native Irish trees. There is no separate campaign or special promotion. It is simply part of how they operate.
Customers are informed that trees are planted in honour of their purchase, creating a direct and meaningful link between everyday business activity and environmental impact.
4. Not an Offset. Not a Statement. Just Action
There is no attempt to position this as an offset or a marketing exercise. Carlson do not overstate it. In fact, if anything, they under-communicate it, and that is what makes it credible. This is not about being seen to be green. It is about doing something positive, consistently, without needing recognition.
“Our approach has always been to focus on doing the right thing in a practical way. Partnering with Grown Forest allows us to build environmental impact directly into our day-to-day business. For every set of windows and doors we install, we plant native Irish trees, creating something positive that extends beyond the work we do in our customers’ homes. It’s a simple idea, but one that has grown into something we are genuinely proud of. We see it as a long-term commitment rather than a one-off initiative, and we look forward to continuing it into the future.”

5. The Impact So Far: Measurable Environmental Results
To date, Carlson Windows have planted over 3,000 native Irish trees through Grown Forest. Based on conservative estimates, this equates to approximately 66 tonnes of CO₂ removed from the atmosphere each year. This figure continues to grow annually as more trees are planted and existing trees mature.
Beyond carbon, these trees contribute to biodiversity restoration, soil regeneration, habitat creation, and long-term ecosystem resilience.
6. Why This Model Works for Business
This model works because it is simple, consistent, and genuine. It does not rely on campaigns or changing behaviours. It is embedded directly into the product and service being delivered. Every installation contributes. Every customer becomes part of the story.
Over time, that creates something much bigger than a single initiative. It turns everyday business activity into long-term environmental impact.
7. A Better Way to Approach Sustainability and What Comes Next
Carlson’s approach offers a clear lesson for other businesses. Sustainability does not have to be complicated, and it does not need to sit in a report or a strategy document. It can be built into what you already do. Small, consistent actions, applied over time, create meaningful impact.
With over 3,000 trees already planted and more added each year, this partnership continues to grow in both scale and impact. What started as a decision during uncertain times has become a long-term commitment to environmental action.
For businesses looking to move beyond intention and into action, this case study shows what is possible.
Real trees. Real impact. Built into real business activity.
